Institutions
The Concordiax regulates. The Ninefold Conservatory teaches. The Celestrian Observatory keeps time. Three institutions that shape every practitioner’s life in the 4th Age — in ways they often don’t fully notice until one of them says no.
The dominant institutions of the 4th Age are not backdrop. They have agendas, blind spots, internal contradictions, and histories of their own that shape every interaction a traveler, practitioner, or scholar has with the world. Understanding them is not optional — they regulate what you can do, where you can go, who you can become, and what you can know.
Other institutions: the Prismaturge’s Guild, the Forgemasters’ Compact, the Lysara Order, the Celestrian Observatory’s treaty-witness function, operate alongside these three, each with their own authority in their domain. But the Concordiax, Conservatory, and Observatory form the structural triangle of institutional power in the 4th Age: the body that regulates, the body that teaches, and the body that keeps time.
